Matt Friesner is a junior at Northridge High School in Middlebury, IN. He is also the owner of Bunker Shelving, a company he founded in December, 2020 “as a solution to the problem of home organization and storage.”

Matt is also one of 18 high schoolers participating this year in Startup Moxie Elkhart. This past November the Startup Moxie students toured the IDEA Center’s Innovation Lab and learned about all the resources available to them.

So it made sense that when Matt was looking for a way to brand his product, he thought of the Lab. Bunker Shelving designs and builds customized, heavy-duty wooden shelving for homeowners’ garages and basements. Matt knew he wanted to place the company logo on the product, and thought a metal stencil would work well, as he could use it to paint his logo onto the wood shelving.

The Lab was able to laser cut exactly what Matt needed.

Bunker Shelving launched publicly on January 25. Matt says his brain is “wired for problem solving,” and that, as a young entrepreneur, he is enjoying the process of creating solutions and making things better.
